Easy Canvas Confetti Art

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great Presidents' Day weekend.  We sure did. My son and I took a trip to Denver over the weekend to visit one of my favorite stores...Ikea!  We got so many great things.  In fact that's how our family spent most of Monday, putting together lots and lots of furniture.  It was fun though and I love how everything turned out.  So that's how we spent our extended weekend, now on the real subject of this post...

Well, we finally painted our master bedroom back in January (it only took 2 1/2 years to figure out what color we wanted).  We picked a pretty bluish grey color but once the new color was on the wall I noticed my old DIY painters tape art didn't stand out as much as it used to.  Here's what it looked like before we painted our bedroom.

Sadly the old artwork pretty much blended in with the new color so naturally I took to Pinterest for some inspiration.  That's when I came upon this Kate Spade inspired beauty.

Adorable right?  It's from Mint Love Social Club and I knew from the moment I saw it I wanted to do something similar.  So I followed her super easy instructions while creating our new bedroom artwork.

However, I chose silver scrapbook paper instead of gold and though she recommends using spray adhesive for the confetti dots, I didn't have any so I used Mod Podge instead.  At first I attempted to use a glue stick. DO NOT USE a GLUE STICK.  It did not work at all, in fact it was worthless.  Luckily the Mod Podge version worked great (I just applied it to the back of the dots and then placed them onto the canvas, easy peasy).

Even though I switched it up a bit, so far so good! It's subtle enough that it doesn't clash with the new paint color. Oh, and another bonus?  It's not too over-the-top girly that my husband would be opposed to it.  In fact he's kind of a fan of it (who knew?)!

As for the older painters tape artwork my son said he wanted it for his room.  It's been laying by his nightstand for the past few weeks though...I should probably figure out where he wants it to go.  Looks like I have another project already waiting for me!
