Pinterest Challenge {Winter Edition}

It's here! It's finally here!!!!!

That's right ladies and gents, the Pinterest Challenge Winter Edition is upon us and I couldn't be more excited!  If you haven't heard of the Pinterest Challenge then be sure to hop on over to Young House Love, they'll fill you in on all the details.

For my Pinterest Challenge I knew I wanted to do something with Washi Tape.  Why Washi Tape?  Well for one I have tons of it and two, I wanted to tackle a project I knew would be fun and would be nearly impossible for me to mess up.

While on my pinning mission I spotted several cute Washi Tape projects but this one was the one that jumped out to me the most.  Say hello to DIY Washi Tape Magnets.

And here's my version!
The tutorial I followed was from How About Orange and Twirling Betty and I got to admit it was pretty darn easy.  I started with one of our OLD flimsy magnets. How old you ask?  Hannah Montana Old! I think my daughter got it in a toy set years ago but I'm not 100% sure where it came from.

Those thin magnets that come attached to phone books would work great for this project too but alas Hannah Montana was all I had on hand.

Since the washi tape I was using was pretty transparent I needed to cover up the magnet with some white paper.  I used Mod Podge to glue some white paper onto the magnet then waited for it to dry.

Once it was dry I added the tape and cut into strips.

Then to make it look more like strips of tape I cut up the sides and TaaDaa! Easy peasy, do-it-yourself washi tape magnets!

So there you have it, my ultra easy but still fun Pinterest Challenge Project. Be sure to check out all the other awesome Pinterest Challenge Projects here! Thanks so much for stopping by.

  1. Cute idea! I might have to do this... :)

  2. That's a great idea! I have the cutest washi tape but use it so rarely. I'm definitely going to try this :)

  3. That's so fun. My DH is making me a big magnet board for my kitchen so I might have to do this. I've never used Washi tape before but it's everywhere and there must be a reason why.

    1. Oh, you'll love washi tape! There are tons of cute uses for it and they come in so many pretty colors and patterns. I have a feeling they will look awesome on your new magnet board :)

  4. Such a cute idea! My fridge definitely needs some of these :)

  5. Super cute, I also did a Washi tape project for the Pinterest Challenge stop by my blog and check it out.
